We would like to invite you to the 4th African conference, being held annually by the African Studies Center of Hasan Kalyoncu University. The conference has become a meeting point of scholars, researchers, African diplomats, and the students of the field as well as the African community residing in Gaziantep, Turkey. This year, the African Conference is carried out through the partnership between Hasan Kalyoncu University’s African Studies Center and Development Research Center.

The conference topics include, but are not restricted to, the impact of COVID-19 on African economies and politics, development, stability, poverty reduction, radicalization, terrorism, commerce, democracy, human rights, ethnic and religious conflicts, state-building, international organizations, super-powers’ and regional powers’ competition in Africa, and so on. However, we would like to pay special attention to issues such as opportunities and challenges in Africa and political and economic ties between Turkey and African countries.

This year the conference was held in virtual form because of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The event was held on 12 October 2021 between 10:00 and 17:00 (Turkey time).
