“Us From The African Eyes” – Specifications

Specifications of the “Us From The African Eyes” Photo Contest organised by Hasan Kalyoncu University Africa Application and Research Centre:

  1. Subject and Purpose: Participants will photograph primarily the Gaziantep region and Türkiye from their own perspective.
  2. Participation Requirements:
    • Participation in the contest is free of charge.
    • The contest is open to everyone of African nationality.
    • Each participant may submit up to 10 (ten) photographs; they will write the story of the photograph in Turkish or English, not exceeding 150 words.
    • The participant accepts, declares, and undertakes that the works submitted to the contest belong to them.
    • The right of use of the works belongs to Hasan Kalyoncu University.
  3. Technical Specifications:
    • Works must be submitted in JPEG format with a long edge of 1800 pixels.
    • Minimum file size 800 KB, maximum 6 MB.
    • Submission Deadline: 31.08.2021
  4. Selection Committee: Works will be evaluated by a distinguished jury.
  5. Awards:
    • 1st Place: 3,000 TL + Certificate of Participation
    • 2nd Place: 2,000 TL + Certificate of Participation
    • 3rd Place: 1,000 TL + Certificate of Participation
    • Certificate of Appreciation for other exhibiting participants.
  6. Copyright: Print and digital copies of award-winning works, along with promotional texts, belong in full to Hasan Kalyoncu University.
  7. Exhibition: Works that pass the preliminary selection will be exhibited on the asc.hku.edu.tr website; the award ceremony will be held at the HKU Culture and Arts Centre.
